Merry Christmas

Posted: December 20, 2024

This holiday season the Georgia United Methodist Foundation is taking time to appreciate the gifts this year has brought for us as well as for our incredible client’s and their ministries. We have partnered with churches, their clergy, and individuals to achieve their mission, grow their ministries and begin to dream even bigger for the coming year. We are celebrating your incredible accomplishments, achieved through faithful stewardship, and are proud of the work we have done together.

GUMF President and CEO, Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley, is especially grateful for the Foundation and the work she has witnessed this year. She reflected on the year of growth and success by saying, “It has been a gift to witness our churches and related institutions celebrate the presence of God in countless ways. It is true that at Christmas we celebrate, ‘Emmanual,’ God with us, but I see God with us and through the lives of faithful believers across the state. Emmanuel is God with us every day, all year long!”

In 2024, the Foundation distributed $1,229,000 from the endowments, Donor Advised Funds, scholarships and the GUMF grant fund. It was our privilege to be a part of ministries assisting young children to the oldest among us, outreach to those in desperate circumstances and continued support for our pastoral communities. We worked with clergy to help engage churches in their current ministry as well as begin planning for the long-term. And, time and time again, we saw believers meeting the multitude of challenges before them while making the faithful decisions to go where God leads. We have seen God’s presence through our partners and are grateful for the work we are able to achieve together.

As you reflect on the year you have had and what is to come next, we ask, “How can we help you be faithful to the mission in which God is calling you next year?” Whether it is loan assistance, church repairs and renovations or any of our planned giving offerings, we invite you to reach out to us.

And in the meantime, let us join our voices together with the angels from Luke 2:14 and sing Charles Wesley’s Christmas hymn, “Hark the herald angels sing, ‘Glory to the newborn King’.”
