Growing in Grace through Christian Conference

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley

Methodists are in an extended season of holy conferencing, or as John Wesley referred to it, “Christian Conference.” Whether it is an Annual, General or Jurisdictional Conference, Christian Conference is a practice for all who have historical Wesleyan roots. Christian Conference is growing in holiness. It is formational for believers.  As Kevin Watson writes, “It isn’t something we bring with us to difficult conversations. It is something that God does for us and in us.” Christian Conference is a means of grace.

For Methodists who gather across the state of GA and beyond, my prayer is that these are days in which we become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. I pray that God’s Holy Spirit will fill us and transform us, individually and collectively. May these days together prepare us further to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!

I hope to meet you at one of the Georgia Annual Conference meetings in the coming months. I am looking forward to conversations about how the Foundation can support you and your church’s mission as you grow in holiness, answering God’s call to serve the community and the world around you. Our purpose is your mission and we are eager to provide faith-based financial solutions for investing, lending, training and planned giving for those of Wesleyan heritage.
