The Georgia United Methodist Foundation’s Certificate Program offers the competitive rates of secular financial institutions but with the added benefit that invested funds go directly to helping Methodist churches.  Recently, the ministry of the Certificate Program was utilized by the Foundation’s first African Methodist Episcopal (AME) client.

Following an in-person visit from Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley, Foundation President and CEO, the leadership at New Bethel AME in Lithonia, Georgia opted to invest in certificates. New Bethel AME, led by Rev. Dr. William E. Thomas Jr., recently celebrated being debt free, and with funds in savings they were ready to invest to help realize financial gains that will help their church grow its ministry. New Bethel AME has been part of the Lithonia community dating back to 1891 and is now known by the moniker of “Church Beyond the Walls.” One way this vibrant congregation lives this out is by serving the greater community with a food bank and mobile food ministry.

Benefits of the Foundation Certificate Program:

  • Earn competitive returns. Current rates* are 1-year at 3.65%, 2-years at 4.00%, 3-years at 3.75%, and 4-years at 3.85%.
  • 100% of the investment provides funds for loans to Methodist churches and nonprofits wishing to refinance debt, build, expand, or renovate facilities for sustaining ministry.
  • You save more while receiving peace of mind knowing your investment is helping churches and nonprofits be good stewards of the funds entrusted to them by God.

The Certificate Program is an outlet to activate saved funds that may otherwise lie dormant. With a relatively modest initial investment you can bring benefit to your doorstep and throughout churches in Georgia. The Foundation invites investment from all Methodist-related individuals and institutions, including, the United Methodist Church, Global Methodist Church, African Methodist Episcopal Church, Episcopal Zion Church, Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and Wesleyan Methodist Church among other historically Methodist churches. Moreover, the Foundation is grateful to the leadership of New Bethel AME for choosing to entrust the church’s funds in Foundation certificates, and we celebrate the church as a new client.
